About Us / History

The Cambria-Somerset Council for Education of Health Professionals, Inc. was incorporated in 1976 as a non-profit consortium to provide continuing education for the staff of several member institutions in a two county area. Today the Council membership includes member institutions in a five county area.

The Council sponsors approximately 75 programs each year. These are held on the UPJ Campus and in local hotels and resorts. In addition, the Council credit certifies more than 250 institutional-based educational seminars.

Budget and Finance Committee

  • Comptrollers from Member Institutions
  • Financial Officers from Planning Committees

Objectives:

  • Develop and Monitor Annual Budget and Financial Policies

Planning Committees

Physicians

Members:

  • CME Directors of Member Institutions

Objectives:

  • Develop Category 1 programs in compliance with ACCME Essentials
  • Pool CME resources to effect cost savings
  • Conduct special programs to improve physicians' knowledge and skills
  • Coordinate regionalized CME courses/seminars addressing specific needs

 

Nurses

Members:

  • Nursing VPs / Educators of Member Institutions
  • Representatives from Long Term Care Facilities and Home Health Agencies

Objectives:

  • Combine efforts of member institutions, health agencies & academic institutions in implementing nursing programs to meet the new paradigm in health care
