Basic Cardiac Anatomy and Physiology and Terminology.

 Course Purpose:

To prepare the registered nurse or other healthcare professionals, to care for patients with cardiac dysrhythmias or the potential for cardiac dysrhythmias.

 Objectives of the Basic Dysrhythmia Course:

· identify defining characteristics of all cardiac rhythms presented

· list two etiologies for each cardiac rhythm presented

· list two clinical findings for each cardiac rhythm presented

· identify medical/nursing management of each cardiac rhythm presented

Required Text Book:  

The required text “ECG’s Made Easy” 5th edition is available for purchase at Cambria-Somerset Council Office, G24 Owen Library or  NOTE: This is a NEW Edition.  The price of the book is approximately $70, however, this price may vary depending on current publisher’s price list.  We urge you to purchase required text a few weeks in advance in order to review Chapters 1 & 2 prior to the course.

Required Calipers:

Calipers are also required for this course.

 Target Audience:  

The Basic Dysrhythmia Course is designed for RNs and other providers who care for patients with cardiac dysrhythmias or the potential for cardiac dysrhythmias.    


All participants are to report for testing on the day scheduled.    

84% is required to pass this course. In the event that a participant fails, remediation and a retest will be available within 2 weeks after the course completion.
