Prerequisites:

Basic Cardiac Anatomy and Physiology and Terminology.

 Course Purpose:

To prepare the registered nurse or other healthcare professionals, to care for patients with cardiac dysrhythmias or the potential for cardiac dysrhythmias.

 Objectives of the Basic Dysrhythmia Course:

· identify defining characteristics of all cardiac rhythms presented

· list two etiologies for each cardiac rhythm presented

· list two clinical findings for each cardiac rhythm presented

· identify medical/nursing management of each cardiac rhythm presented

Required Text Book:  

The required text “ECG’s Made Easy” 5th edition is available for purchase at Cambria-Somerset Council Office, G24 Owen Library or Amazon.com.  NOTE: This is a NEW Edition.  The price of the book is approximately $70, however, this price may vary depending on current publisher’s price list.  We urge you to purchase required text a few weeks in advance in order to review Chapters 1 & 2 prior to the course.

Required Calipers:

Calipers are also required for this course.

 Target Audience:  

The Basic Dysrhythmia Course is designed for RNs and other providers who care for patients with cardiac dysrhythmias or the potential for cardiac dysrhythmias.    

Testing:

All participants are to report for testing on the day scheduled.    

84% is required to pass this course. In the event that a participant fails, remediation and a retest will be available within 2 weeks after the course completion.
