The Cambria-Somerset Council for Education of Health Professionals, Inc. (C-S Council) is a non-profit educational consortium located at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ) in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The C-S Council was incorporated in 1976 to provide cost effective continuing education for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals. Today, the C-S Council provides credits and maintains certifications for virtually every aspect of continuing education in the healthcare professions. This past year the Council offered 55 regional conferences at various locations including the UPJ campus and Seven Springs Resort in Champion, Pennsylvania. Through its Pennsylvania Medical Society accreditation, the C-S Council certified more than 300 hospital-based Category 1 credit programs for physicians at our member institution locations. These hospital-based programs include Tumor Board, Grand Rounds and various lectures in series. The C-S Council attendance this past year exceeded 10,000 participants at our regional and hospital-based continuing education events.
The mission is to improve the quality of health care delivery services to more than 500,000 residents of a six county area in rural southcentral and southwestern Pennsylvania. The C-S Council membership consists of six acute care institutions including one acute care teaching medical center, two additional acute care hospitals, three rural hospitals and one subacute care facility.
